Julian Morrow, a member of The Chaser's War on Everything, says that, rather than prosecuting the boy who had ABC video clips removed from YouTube, "we should probably hire him". The Sydney Morning Herald has published a timely update on the earlier AAP story.

Reporter Erik Jensen also reveals that the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) encourages sharing of its content "on as many platforms as possible, run by as many different operators as possible". Head of arts, entertainment and comedy at ABC TV, Courtney Gibson also said that "The head of ABC legal is contacting those involved."

"We are very much keeping our options open in terms of what kind of action we take."

The 15-year-old Perth boy caused "more than 200 clips" to be removed and replaced by a message saying "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Australian Broadcasting Corporation."

The ABC's attitude toward content sharing is extremely interesting especially in the light of actions brought against YouTube by other media companies. Jensen mentions the recent Viacom lawsuit.

The ABC is a publicly-funded broadcaster established in 1932 beginning TV broadcasts in 1956.
